After a few months stuck at home due to COVID-19, I was happy to explore Cerro San Luis, one of the peaks in San Luis Obispo, California.

Walking from the dirt parking lot to the summit took 45 minutes by the fire road, give or take a few to stop and catch some video.

This was my first video edited entirely on an iPad. Stumbling through LumaTouch wasn’t difficult, though managing files in iPadOS could use some love.

Jeep road and trail to the summit
Typical terrain: the trail is a jeep road leading to the summit, usually wide enough for safe social distancing.
View of a ridge north of San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly
Looking north from the summit, across San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly University.
View from the summit, including the mountain’s shadow
From the summit, the triangular shadow of this mountain itself stretches across San Luis Obispo and Highway 101.
Looking towards the Pacific Ocean after sunset
The sun vanished on my return hike, and low fog began to settle in from the Pacific.
