The tale

I went looking for a nearby place for a quick walk. So did many other people on this early May day.

Fremont Older is an even mix of dense forests and open plains, free and open to the public. The parking lot could only hold about 20 cars, and was covered with a net to protect vehicles from errant golf balls; turns out a driving range is nearby.

Being only 20 minutes into the hills, Fremont is a popular destination for families on the weekends. I also encountered a dozen or so cyclists on the narrow, winding trails. It sounds less dangerous than it seemed. Most trails were wide cuts in the waist-high grasses, and narrower among the trees. But they were evenly mixed. This was the least forested park I’d seen in a while.

From the overlook at Hunter’s Point Vista, I could see my old home, my current home, and my current office building in between — from Mountain View to south of San Jose.
